More than 150 volunteers served at Vanderburgh Homeless Connect. Volunteers were engaged in a various roles to make the event a success. Training was provided to those who invested their time in welcoming, assisting, and serving the event Guests. Volunteers served entire day or through two-hour shifts. Volunteers were also engaged in the planning stages before the event.
Vendors - Service Providers
The menu of services available were as rich as the kinds of service providers who were willing and able to be present and offer some form of immediate service—processing an application, administering a health screening, preparing tax returns, creating a photo ID, assisting with a job search, cutting hair, and more!
Quality of Life Services
Living homeless can be a tremendous challenge for families, youth, and individuals. Being able to access day-to-day services, or "extras," often taken for granted by those who have homes or more resources, can brighten the day of event guests. "Extras” or quality of life services included Haircuts, Massages (neck/upper back while seated), “Café Connect” serving up FREE lunch and snacks, Computer lab with FREE internet access; Interpreters for people with hearing impairments and who speak Spanish or other languages; Child care (for children of Guests while attending the event); Take-Away items (Nonperishable food bags, personal care items, comfort kits, Veterans-only supplies, etc.) ...and many others as made available by community partners

To donate funds to assist with services and supplies provided at the next event,
make checks payable to “Aurora, Inc.” (fiscal agent for Destination: Home),
designate "VHC" on the memo line, and
