in partnership with the James Fund

721 Barnabas Bears

were adopted

& were delivered to needy children

in the Evansville/Vanderburgh County and Tri-State area

All Barnabas Bears adopted through Sat., Nov. 10, 2007

were distributed locally.

In October & November, the Homeless Services Council of Southwest Indiana was offered a booth at Family Christian Stores to promote Barnabas Bears and to provide information about area homeless service providers and Destination: Home.  (Left) Community volunteers, Camille Verkamp and Brandy Cain served at the booth.

228 Barnabas Bears were distributed in February 2008

to children served by homeless service providers who are part of

the Homeless Services Council of Southwest Indiana

Barnabas Bear Club field trip

Of that number, 33 children (and many of their parents!) from 5 service providers were treated to a Barnabas Bear Club field trip, hosted by Family Christian Stores at the Koch Family Children's Museum of Evansville on Wed., Feb. 6, 2008!

Participating agencies included AIDS Resource Group, Goodwill Family Center, House of Bread & Peace, Lucas Place, and Ozanam Family Shelter.

Museum and store staff plus at least 60 volunteers from area churches and agencies helped make the afternoon a great and fun-filled success!

Other Bears Distributed

Other providers receiving bears included CAPE (for their Gibson & Vanderburgh Co. shelters), Dorothea MacGregor Family Shelter (through Pigeon Township Trustee), Evansville Rescue Mission (Parents' Day Out program), Mt. Vernon Homeless Shelter, and United Caring Shelters (Day Shelter).

(Pictured to above) Resurgence Church volunteers staffed Bear Cave Crafts in which children were able to decorate and dress up their bears to personalize them. Each child received an adoption certificate (created/donated by Data Mail, Inc.) for their bears.
