2008 Priority Strategies

 

*     Developing Housing Options

o       Develop a jail diversion program: Safe Haven

o       Develop resources for an additional 1500 units of subsidized housing

o       Develop “Housing First” strategy for those currently in shelters

*     Increasing Employment & Raising Incomes

o     Promote a living wage

o     Develop employment options for youth, ex-offenders, and unemployed

*     Increasing Awareness

o      Destination: Home Speakers Bureau launch

o      “Be a Key” campaign

o      Radio and other media marketing

o      Website updates

o      New logo

o      Other Destination: Home Awareness Team activities to connect with target markets

*     Continue the work of previously initiated strategies:

 

2007 Priority Strategies

 

*     Continue strategies begun in 2005 and 2006.

*     Begin development of the Prevention System

o     Begin developing a Housing First program for those at risk of homelessness

o     Train service providers on the Rating Scale and the use of the Prevention System

*     Begin development of supportive housing for singles and couples

*     Create a Homeless Youth Council

*     Launch Compassionate Connections – equipping congregations for ministry with people in our community who are poor and homeless

*     Create a Funders Council

o     Identify resources for prevention strategies

o     Identify resources for rental assistance and homeownership program

o     Identify resources to expand Individual Development Accounts

*     Continue training initiatives

*     Promote the incorporation of the Strength Based Model into services

*     Provide ongoing training of shelter staff regarding how to work with persons with disabilities

*     Improve coordination of training and employment options

*     Launch a Housing Matters campaign

*     Begin development of a jail diversion program

*     Expand transportation options
