This year's
state honorary chair for the walk was Lt. Governor Becky Skillman |
 |
Teresa Burkes,
local spokesperson, was presented the Distinguished Hoosier Award at the
start of this year's event. |
When asked "Why
will you walk?" Teresa responded: "I will walk for homelessness because I
know that anyone could be put in this position. I worked hard all my life and
played by the rules, I never thought my circumstances would me lead me in this
direction. The state of homelessness does not discriminate, it can happen to
anyone. I know because it happened to me. Walking for Homeward Bound
gives me the opportunity to give back to the agencies that helped me move
towards permanent housing."
